About RIXML
Founded in 2000 by our member firms, RIXML is the global standards body for investment research and interaction metadata. Member firms include buyside firms, sellside firms, and vendors who provide products and services to support the process of creating, aggregating, and consuming investment research and interaction data.
The RIXML Standards are developed and maintained by the firms that create, distribute, aggregate, and consume investment research and interaction records.
Background
RIXML.org was founded when buy side firms, sell side firms, and vendors met to address a shared problem: the volume of investment research being distributed had outpaced the tools available to organize it effectively. By collaborating, these firms created a standard that met the needs of investment research creators, consumers, and aggregators.
Over the two decades since the release of the original RIXML Research Standard, the organization has expanded its work to include additional standards supporting evolving industry needs. These include an analyst roster change standard, a coverage change standard, and the RIXML Interactions Standard, which helps firms track interactions to facilitate the broker vote process and comply with regulatory reporting requirements.
RIXML today
RIXML.org continues to advance and enhance the RIXML Standards Suite, working closely with industry participants to address emerging challenges and support more efficient, consistent, and transparent investment research workflows.
We also offer guidance and best practices on topics related to investment research distribution and aggregation, best practices for linkback implementations and usage reporting guidelines.
RIXML members meet in person several times each year, and online more frequently for both all-member meetings and smaller task teams focused on a variety of topics.
We develop and maintain XML standards including our flagship RIXML Research Standard, as well as the Interactions, Roster Updates, and Coverage Updates standards. We update these standards as needed to adapt to regulatory, technological, and business changes, and develop new standards and guidance when member firms identify a need.
We are committed to open standards and make all of our standards freely available to our members and the wider community.
